Waters' introspective and thought-provoking lyrics became a signature element of Pink Floyd's music, exploring themes of alienation, politics, and human nature. He quickly established himself as the primary lyricist and conceptual leader of the group. The Abdabs later evolved into Sigma 6 and eventually became Pink Floyd in 1965, with Waters on bass guitar and vocals.Īs a founding member of Pink Floyd, Waters played a pivotal role in shaping the band's sound and artistic direction. He formed his first band, The Abdabs, in 1962 while attending Regent Street Polytechnic (now the University of Westminster) in London. In his teenage years, Waters discovered rock and roll music, which ignited his desire to pursue a career in the industry. Waters developed a passion for music at an early age, learning to play the piano and the clarinet. He grew up in a musical family, with his father Eric Fletcher Waters being a schoolteacher and a talented pianist. The meddle cover says made in germany, but label is made in France.with all the great talk about german vinyl, I was a little dissapointed in seeing France, but the discographies site verifies it is a german release.George Roger Waters, known by his stage name Roger Waters, was born on 6 September 1943 in Great Bookham, Surrey, England. The above site is great if you are interested in different floyd releases from all over the world. Picked this up and a nm german meddle (haven't listened yet) for $1 each. So, if you're looking for this album don't pass on the capitol/harvest 70's issues from the US. Mine has some slightly different numbers in the deadwax than what's listed on the above site, not sure if that matters at all. I know most people go after the UK pressings, but I can't imagine them sounding much better than this. I was even more surprised when I put it on my turntable. These things go pretty cheap on e-bay, I was surprised. I just picked up a nm copy of Atom Heart Mother yesterday.
